KBACE Technologies’ approach to ERP reporting is to give each reporting end user their own data mart on their PC. Instead of using a data warehouse to produce a data mart, KBACE Technologies uses the production database to extract a single master Kube that is then stored outside the database, sliced and distributed to each user’s desktop.

By using the production database, additional server hardware is not needed. KBACE Technologies uses what Microsoft® terms as the “Power of the PC” in using each reporting user’s PC for the resource intensive reporting tasks of sorting, aggregation and presentation.

Once on each end-user’s desktop, the Kubes may be collected or deleted as they become obsolete. The Kubes are disposable data marts in the sense that, once they are obsolete, it is the end user’s option to simply delete the Kube off their desktop.

Key to KBACE Technologies’ Kube concept is distributing dozens of report templates along with the Kube data. These reporting templates are built by KBACE Technologies and installed as part of the core product. Immediately after installation, end-users may run reports. There is no consulting engagement required to build reports after the Kube is installed.

The KBACE provided Kube report templates are nothing more than Microsoft® Office documents. The Kube uses the Microsoft® Office as its front-end. Not only is the Microsoft® Office a familiar, ubiquitous environment, but most organizations either already own it or have access to it. Since all of the seeded Kube templates are just Microsoft® Office documents, end users may easily modify and/or create their own templates without learning additional tools and skills.

Kubes work because:

• Organizations do not need to choose between reporting and supporting standard functionality.
• Hundreds, if not thousands of reporting end users can be offered operational reports without changing the ERP system setup.
• The seeded template reports in a Kube address real-world issues and offer users flexibility.
• Users do not need to purchase and use a new reporting tool. End users only need to know Microsoft® Office to use and create reports.
